With the brisk winter chill knocking at our doors in South Bend, Indiana, it’s that time of the year again when a well-functioning HVAC system isn’t just about comfort, but a necessity. As a proud Bryant Factory Authorized Dealer, we understand the importance of keeping your home warm and cozy. Here’s how you can ensure that your HVAC system runs smoothly throughout the frosty season.

Regularly Check and Replace Air Filters

Often neglected, this simple task is vital. Dirty air filters make your HVAC system work harder, leading to increased energy bills and potential system failures. Regularly check and replace your filters to ensure efficient operation.

Upgrade Your Thermostat

Is your thermostat ready for winter? Ensure it’s accurately reading temperatures and functioning properly. Consider upgrading to a smart thermostat for better energy management and to keep your home at the ideal temperature, even when you’re away. With a smart thermostat, you can control your home’s temperature from anywhere using your smartphone or tablet. This is particularly useful if you want to adjust the temperature before you arrive home or if you forgot to change settings before leaving on a trip.

Monitor System Performance

Watch for any unusual signs in your HVAC system during winter. Uncommon noises, odors, or reduced heating efficiency could signal a need for professional attention.

Keep Vents Clear of Obstructions

Blocked vents can cause your system to run inefficiently and create uncomfortable temperature variations in your home. Make sure furniture or curtains aren’t obstructing airflow from your vents.
